OUR FOUNDER

Samkelo is a passionate catalyst for change. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) is a cross that he could not avoid to bare. From a very early age, Samkelo was aware of the different culture, household and environmental norms that exist among the people of South Africa. ​Driven by his experience of exclusion in the workplace, Samkelo founded Nomatu Consulting to co-create inclusive and diverse teams and organisations that have a culture of belonging.

 

Samkelo has been an executive in various corporations and organisations.

Testimony of his devotion to his work in this space is the CEO Recognition Award of The South African Board for People Practices (SABPP) which he received in June 2021. This annual award was attributed to Samkelo for his “extraordinary service and outstanding contribution to the HR profession”.

When asked about his purpose, Samkelo replies: “I always see my life as a bridge. Someone has a dream, a vision an aspiration and wants to reach that point, I am that bridge. Whether it’s linking a candidate to a job opportunity, coaching or leveraging my extended network, my life is about sharing knowledge, connecting people and building relationships.”
